HOW WE ENGAGE
An operating partner, not a reviewer reporting back to you
We work alongside your portfolio company CEOs to find what is limiting growth, engaged as an operating partner to the leadership team.

That is what allows the CEO, the leadership team, employees, and customers to speak freely, and what they say is what the recommendations are based on. The result is a leadership team that agrees on what is limiting ARR growth and what to do about it.
Where it fits
A portfolio company that was growing and is now missing plan, where the board can see the slowdown, but the causes are not clear. There is no shortage of opinions inside the business, but the people closest to it are too close to be objective, and the board operates at arm's length.
What we do about it
We find the causes, through talking to people at every level and reviewing the commercial assets in detail, then recommend what to change and in what order. We identify immediate opportunities for revenue improvement and the strategic initiatives that will drive sustained growth.
STEP 1
The Growth Accelerator Roadmap
Almost everything you learn about a portfolio company comes through the CEO, which is how it should work. But no CEO has weeks to spend on what customers and lost prospects actually think, or what the sales team is running into day to day. The Roadmap does that work for them.
What's included
-
Anonymous survey across the organization
-
Branding, website, and presentations
-
Data sheets, case studies, and white papers
-
Business cases, proposals, and contracts
-
Competitor analysis and battle cards, where they exist
-
Recorded sales calls, demos, and negotiations
-
Invoices, seat usage, churn, and pipeline, from the company's systems
-
Pricing, discounting, and renewal terms against revenue and margin goals
-
Sales and customer success compensation, and the behavior it drives
-
Marketing spend by channel, and what it produces
-
Conversations with leadership and across every function
-
Conversations with customers and lost prospects, where possible
-
A half-day prioritization workshop with the leadership team
If it appears that there could be an opportunity for cost reductions that could be repurposed towards revenue growth, we will identify it at a high level. A cost or restructuring analysis would be a separate engagement and is not part of the Roadmap.
What you receive
A readout session with the CEO, presenting the findings, a prioritized set of recommendations, and how to act on each one. A written assessment follows. You receive your own brief covering the key findings, the recommendations, and a view on what the business could achieve if they are acted on. Fixed price, no hourly billing, no change orders. Delivered remotely over five to six weeks.

STEP 2, OPTIONAL
From roadmap to execution
Some recommendations can be handled by the team. Others need someone with a track record of growing revenue across multiple businesses. Even so, the team will be running this after we have gone, so they are involved throughout. The CEO receives a monthly written report covering work completed, hours applied, and progress against the agreed priorities.

3
A fixed-price Growth Accelerator Roadmap, scoped and agreed in writing, delivered over five to six weeks.
4
A readout to the CEO, and a separate brief to you.
5
Where the CEO wants execution support, a six-month engagement to help implement the recommendations.
BEYOND GROWTH
Growth is rarely the only question
When growth stalls, the board usually starts asking about cost structure and capital at the same time. We have founded, funded, acquired, divested, and restructured businesses across thirty years, and can take on those questions alongside the growth work.
